While singing Valentyna Makhnyk, ex-artist of the famous Cherkassy Ukrainian folk choir, creates inimitable colour of Ukrainian songs sounding. Having a great talent, folk voice by the character of sounding, deep knowledge of Ukrainian song art, Valentyna appears on the stage with the ensemble of folk singing “Yaroslavna” for more then five years.
Ensemble “Yaroslavna” started its existence it the very heart of Ukraine – it the marvellous Cossacks’ town Cherkassy, which is situated on the picturesque bank of the Dnieper River.
The group consists of four young talented musicians who using their mastery and variety of the repertoire captivate audiences’ hearts far from Ukrainian borders. The repertoire of the ensemble is rich and diverse. It includes an enormous spectrum of musical composition both, folk and variety-folk modern sounding. The ensemble performs lyric and playful compositions, ritual songs and Cossack ballads. Genre background of the repertoire includes songs recorded in different districts of Ukraine and also instrumental compositions, solo songs and songs a’capella.
The unique point of this colourful group is based on artists’ simultaneous singing and virtuosic playing several Ukrainian folk instruments. That’s why appearing of ensemble “Yaroslavna” is a real festive, enchanting sight, real creation of Ukrainian vocal-instrumental art and every concerts of which fascinates audiences hearts.
Ensemble “Yaroslavna” is well-known not only in towns and villages of Ukraine, but also far from this country. The group account has also three successful tours in Finland, which took place on autumn 2008 and 2009 and summer 2010. Virtuosity and high professionalism of performing, sparkling temperament of the artists of the ensemble creates unforgettable festival which the audience carry in memory for ages.
